Special Olympics Sarnia is honouring four local athletes who recently captured medals while representing Team Ontario at the Special Olympics Canada Summer Games in Medicine Hat, Alberta.
A celebration will take place on Saturday afternoon, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m., at Imperial City Brew House.
Chris Carpeneto won gold in standing long jump and bronze in the mini javelin, while Joanna Edwards captured bronze medals in the 100-metre race and running long jump.
Noah Pyke won two golds in 10 pin bowling, and Angela Sauve won a gold and a bronze.
Special Olympics Sarnia said all four athletes will be at the celebration, along with their families, friends and coaches.
Members of local police services were also invited to help recognize the athletes and present them with certificates.
Remarks will be given by Athletics Coach Sarah Luttrell and Bowling Coach Harvey Leckie, and there will be a chance to meet and greet with the athletes.
