A Sarnia woman has been arrested, and police are looking for a man, after an assault and robbery on Sunday, October 6.
City police said the male victim, who was on an e-bike, was accosted by two people while leaving a convenience store in the area of Napier and Elgin Streets.
Police allege the male suspect assaulted the victim, while the woman stole his e-bike.
An onlooker tried to stop the assault, but was allegedly stabbed in the hand with a knife brandished by the male assailant.
The good Samaritan received a small cut to the right of his hand.
Police said the suspects fled with the e-bike and the woman was identified by the victim. The male suspect has not been identified.
On October 8, at 1 a.m., an officer of the Community Response Division spotted the wanted female at a business at the intersection of London Road and Christina Street.
The officer tried to arrest the woman, but she allegedly resisted the officer and a struggle ensued.
Police said a second officer came to assist, and was cut by a large, black buck knife the female had in her possession.
The officer suffered a cut to his right middle finger which required medical attention.
Laura Chesney, 33, of Sarnia, is charged with robbery with violence, carrying a concealed weapon, resisting a peace officer, failure to comply with a release order, and failure to comply with probation.
She was held for a bail hearing.
