Lambton College hosts Mega Job Fair

Roughly 60 employers will attend Lambton College's annual Mega Job Fair on October 10 to fill part-time, full-time, and seasonal positions.

Job Developer Kyle Walker said the mega job fair series started in 2019 and has grown substantially.

"We see thousands of people. We see lineups throughout the college. It's a very popular event," he said. "What we've done this time to cut down on that foot traffic is we have time slots available so that job seekers can have easier access to employers without having to compete with all of the other job seekers."

Walker said attendees can pre-register to attend the free event through the college's website and book a time slot.

"Job seekers will go on and they will pick the time that works best for them and then their group of job seekers will have 45 minutes and then that group will clear, and the next group will go in from there," he said.

Employment opportunities (in Sarnia-Lambton and across southwestern Ontario) will be available in industries such as healthcare, administration, tourism, education, manufacturing, and trades.

The job fair is open to students, graduates, and the general public.

Attendees are encouraged to bring plenty of resumes and dress in business-casual clothing.

"Most importantly, do some research into the different types of companies that are going to be there," Walker said. "We want to make sure that job seekers take a targeted approach when they're looking to speak with companies and ideally, only speak to companies that they feel qualified to work for, they have positions that they might be interested in, and that they're able to make some sort of connection."

The job fair will be held in the school's main gym from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The event is hosted by Lambton College Co-op and Career Services, in partnership with Community Employment Services.
