World U17 Challenge Cup on display before tournament starts

The prestigious World Under 17 Challenge Cup is being displayed at the Lambton Heritage Museum for the next few days.

The trophy has been added to the Hockey exhibition until November 1, when the tournament starts in Sarnia-Lambton.

The County of Lambton's Museums, Gallery, and Archives manager Laurie Webb is thrilled to showcase the cup before the event gets underway.

"This is a rare chance for the community to experience this level of hockey excellence," said Webb. "Whether you're a diehard hockey fan or just looking for a fun, educational activity, this is an opportunity you won't want to miss."

She said the display, which has been running since early summer, celebrates the rich history and culture of the sport through interactive exhibits, hands-on activities, and rare artifacts.

Visitors to the Hockey exhibition before November 1 will be entered into a draw to win two tickets to the gold medal game of the U17 tournament.

Two members of the Sarnia Sting - Beckham Edwards and Alessandro Di Iorio - are among 41 players from across the Canadian Hockey League (CHL) set to compete in the U17 challenge.

Exhibition games will be played in Lambton Shores, Petrolia, and Sarnia on November 1 and November 2.

The tournament is scheduled for November 3 to November 9.
