It's a poppy, not for your lapel, but for your social media pages and email signature.
The Legion National Foundation is once again offering the digital poppy at mypoppy.ca The annual national campaign in support of veterans runs through to Remembrance Day.
“The digital poppy goes a long way ensuring Canadians never forget the fallen, all while remaining a personalized experience,” Thomas Irvine, the foundation's board chair, said in a statement. “Commemorations dedicated to loved ones may be added on each digital poppy to assure their memory lives on, all the while signaling support for Canadian veterans."
Digital poppies can be shared online with friends and family members through social media and with colleagues and clients in email signature blocks. Digital poppies can be personalized to add a customized commemoration for a loved one who served.
This year's campaign is being sponsored by HomeEquity Bank.
“Now in our sixth year, HomeEquity Bank is proud to serve Canada’s Veterans and their families through our involvement with the Digital Poppy campaign,” said Bank President and CEO Katherine Dudtschak. “We know what a difference this support makes, and we invite all Canadians to come together to honour those who have sacrificed so much for our country.”
All donations collected through the poppy campaign are used to support veterans and their families. All donations receive an instant tax receipt, the foundation noted.
