With temperatures continuing to drop, City of Sarnia crews are hard at work to make sure the roads are safe for winter driving.
Residents may notice brine trucks out in the coming days, laying down anti-ice spray on high-risk areas like bridges and overpasses, ensuring when snow falls, ice doesn’t bind to the road surface.
The city said the brine is a mix of high performance chlorides and corrosion inhibitor, adding it's less corrosive to vehicles and infrastructure than traditional salt brine products, and is better for the environment.
If there is no precipitation, the brine can stay active on the road for several days.
We're asked to keep our distance as they do their work.
Before the snow hits, plows may also be seen as the Public Works team keeps up to date on training.
We're being told to avoid passing and keep your distance around plows.
