The Sarnia-Lambton United Way campaign is expected to fall short of its target this year.
Director of Development and Communications Ryan Doyle said they've raised 95 per cent of the goal.
'So it's a bit of a good news bad news situation," said Doyle. "So we have fundraised just over $1.4 million, which is very impressive, we're very proud of the community for coming together and doing that. However, that's about $77,000 short of our goal of $1.487 million."
Doyle said 17 local agencies that provide 29 programs and services depend on funding from the United Way.
"Our Inn of the Good Shepherd program, the tax program for any low income clients who need help filling out their tax forms, that's a $33,000 program. So I know that sometimes it can feel like, oh they're close enough, but still there's still these programs that do need to be funded. And if we come up short, it is challenging to make these programs fully funded."
Other agencies that receive funding through the United Way include Lambton Elderly Outreach, Habitat for Humanity and the Salvation Army.
Donations can be made until the end of the year at the office on Lambton Mall Road or online through the United Way's website.
