Legionnaires overhaul roster heading into 2025

The Sarnia Legionnaires will have a new-look squad entering 2025.

The GOJHL club made a number of transactions during the holiday break, including a few well-known players moving on to new opportunities.

In a Facebook post, the team said "After much deliberation amongst the coaching staff it was obvious that the season has not turned out the way we all envisioned and that changes needed to be made, not just for this year but for the next several seasons to come."

Alternate Captains Austin Harper and Ryan Richardson have been re-assigned to the Petrolia Flyers of PJHL. They'll both be eligible to play their age 21 season with the Flyers.

Jaxon Priddle and Captain Ty Moffatt have been traded to the London Nationals, and goalies Logan Phillips and Connor Davis are heading to the LaSalle Vipers and Leamington Flyers respectively.

Caden Jacobs and Nathan Holland have both been released to their home centres, and are now playing with The Vermont Lumberjacks of the EHL.

Matthew Andersen has decided to play in the OJHL with the King Rebellion, where will be joining his brother.

Owen Brown has been traded to the Ayr Centennials who sit atop the GOJHL's East Division.

Lucas Durham is now with the Cambridge Redhawks who sit 5th in the Western Conference.

Dane Nisbet has been released to the Mooretown Flags who currently sit 4th in the PJHL West Stobbs division.

To fill the roster spots, the Legionnaires acquired goalie Ryan Burroughs from the Komoka Kings, and defenceman, Jacob Wiseman from the Stratford Warriors.

Other new additions include Joshua Granowicz from the Stratford Warriors, Drew Bunda from the PJHL's Walpole Island Wild, Brayden Kominick from the Petrolia Flyers, Dante Bertolin from the LaSalle Vipers, along with Theron Tsiapalis and Noah Vandenberg from the London Nationals.

All of the players on Sarnia's roster are now eligible to return to the club next season.

They're calling it year one of a three year rebuilding project.
