Ontario promotes free fishing this Family Day Weekend

If you're hunting for something to do with the family this Family Day Weekend, the Ministry of Natural Resources suggests fishing.

Fishing is free this weekend. Fishers won't need to buy a fishing license or Outdoors Card.

All conservation license catch limits, size limits, sanctuaries, and all other fishing regulations and rules still apply.

Participants must carry government identification showing their name and date of birth.

The Ontario government allows free fishing four times a year. Aside from Family Day weekend, it's allowed on Mother's Day (May 10 to May 11), Father's Day (June 14 to June 15) and Family Fishing Week (June 28 to July 6).

Outside of free fishing periods, most people between 18 and 64 must have an Outdoors Card and a fishing license to enjoy recreational fishing.
