The Sarnia Sting lost to the visiting Soo Greyhounds 5-4 in OHL action Friday night.
Easton Wainwright got the Sting on the board in the first period, and Matthew Manza scored a power play goal in the second frame for Sarnia.
The Greyhounds responded with three second period goals, followed by two in the third.
The Sting's Beckham Edwards would also get two in the third period, falling just short of a comeback in front of 4,439 fans at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.
Sarnia Head Coach Alan Letang said the boys fought hard.
"I thought our effort was excellent in the first period, good in the second, ten minutes of the third we missed a couple of assignments and they capitalized," said Letang. "This one and the one the other night, those are the one's we were hoping to get points in and it's tough."
He said they battled back and they've shown that resilience all season
"Look at the guys that led the charge, that's the exciting part," he said. "Beckham Edwards and Beamish (Liam). Evan Maillet had a great game for us, gives us every opportunity, like that's the exciting part. It's those guys in these intense games that our finding ways to contribute. If I'm a fan of this game, if I'm a fan of the Sting, I can't wait to see those guys where they're 19."
The Sting have now lost four in a row.
The Soo Greyhounds improve to 25-35-2-2, with the win, drawing even with Sarnia for the last playoff spot in the OHL Western Conference.
The Sarnia Sting travel to Barrie Saturday night.
