A small fire on an out-of-service tank at the Sarnia refinery was extinguished by site crews at around 8:40 a.m.
Imperial said all personnel were accounted for and there were no injuries.
The tank was empty at the time and Imperial will be investigating the cause.
People in southern Huron and Lambton counties are being told to limit their time outside.
