With Canada Day now less than a month away, the City of Sarnia is accepting registrations for the popular parade.
The annual tradition is held in partnership with the Sarnia Kinsmen Club.
Sarnia Communications Manager Steve Henschel said the parade is open to everyone, but they do reserve the right to refuse any entry and will prohibit propaganda and/or political statements of any nature.
"We keep the parade fairly open to everybody," said Henschel. "We have everything from marching bands to community groups, service organizations and businesses."
Henschel said they're hoping to go bigger than ever before, and top last year's total of 31 floats.
He notes there's no better time to show your Canadian pride.
"The more the merrier when it comes to a parade," he said. "This year's theme is Canada Always. With some of what's been going on in the world, the committee really wanted to focus on our pride in Canada as a distinct and unique nation. Canada Always is also a bit of a play on the city's crest 'Sarnia Semper', which means 'Sarnia Always'."
Participants are encouraged to display Canadian flags, and to provide music of a Canadian patriotic nature.
Commercial entries must be decorated at least 75 per cent in red and white.
As usual, the parade will start at 11:30 a.m. from the corner of Lakeshore Road and Colborne Road. Floats will then head west on Lakeshore, then south on Christina Street North.
They'll enter Canatara Park at Lake Chipican Drive, and finish on Sandy Lane.
Those interested in taking part can fill out an application form on the city's website by clicking here.
The deadline is at noon on June 16.
Registration for commercial floats is $58, but non-profit organizations can apply for free.
All parade participants over the age of 18 must sign a waiver form.
Each group must provide proof of vehicle ownership as well as the driver's name and insurance information to the Sarnia Kinsmen by June 20.
A mandatory parade meeting will be held on June 18 at 6 p.m. at the Strangway Centre.
