UPDATE: Sarnia police release video to identify suspect

A man accused of breaking a parking gate at Bluewater Health has been charged after Sarnia police released a video of the incident in an effort to identify the suspect.

A video was posted to social media on Wednesday.

Police said the suspect, who "appeared to be inebriated," walked to the hospital's parking lot, off of East Street, overnight between July 1 and July 2.

A time-lapse of the video shows the suspect twisting and pulling off the parking gate, which caused about $1,000 in damage.

Sarnia police issued an update on Friday and said a 20-year-old Sarnia man turned himself in after seeing the video.

Police said he cooperated with investigators and was charged with mischief under $5,000. He was released with a future court date.
