Pathways brings back Mustang Sally Rally

A fundraiser, exclusive to mustang owners, is returning to the area after a brief hiatus, in celebration of Pathways Health Centre for Children's 50th anniversary.

Donor Relations and Special Events Lead Marcy Draker said the poker run event hasn't been held since 2019.

"The community has asked me for a number of years if I was going to bring back the Mustang Sally Rally, so I know that it has been a long treasured event that this community has supported," she said.

On Saturday, September 13, participants will take a scenic tour through Lambton County, collecting envelopes along the way.

"Once they've completed their tour and collected all five envelopes, they'll return to the Point Edward Arena and turn in their cards, creating a poker hand," Draker said. "Cash prizes will be awarded for the three best poker hands."

A lunch, supplied by Red & Ko, will be served afterward.

As of August 25, Draker said over 30 cars have registered for the event.

"Each of those registrations is bringing a passenger so we'll have over 60 people so far involved in the Mustang Sally Rally," she said. "Ideally, we would love to hit a minimum of 50 mustangs if we could."

The registration fee for a car and driver is $50; for passengers, it's $25.

"The event in the past has raised over $40,000 for programs for children and young adults who access services at Pathways," Draker said.

Initially, registration was scheduled to end on August 29, but Draker said it has been extended to the week of the event.

The rally will begin at 10 a.m.

Mustang owners can register online.

The event sponsors include Finch Ford, Barry and Erika Hogan (Hub International), High Tech Collision & Refinishing, and KNK Mechanical Group.

Pathways is one of 22 children's treatment centres in Ontario, providing rehabilitation and support services.

Multiple events have been held over the past several months as the local organization celebrates its milestone anniversary.
