Three virtual information sessions are planned this week as public feedback is sought for a proposed power plant at the former Lambton Generating Station (LGS) site in St. Clair Township.
Atura Power, a subsidiary of Ontario Power Generation (OPG), has plans to construct a 500 megawatt natural gas power plant at the Courtright site.
The Impact Assessment Agency of Canada (IAAC) is inviting the public to review a summary of the initial project description before commenting on the plans for the Riverside Generating Station.
IAAC said you'll be able learn more about the project during the ZOOM sessions, including; the impact assessment process and how to submit comments.
The sessions will be held:
September 24, 2025, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. ET (English)
September 25, 2025, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. ET (French)
September 25, 2025, from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. ET (English)

A preliminary timeline for the project has construction starting in the summer of 2027, with commercial operation beginning in the spring of 2030.
The project is expected to be in operation for at least 20 years.
A ceremonial groundbreaking was recently held to mark the start of construction of the St. Clair Transmission Line, also located at the former LGS site.
Minister of Energy and Mines Stephen Lecce called the $471.9 million infrastructure project a major step forward in building a stronger, self-reliant energy system.
