Sarnia Sting acquire OA forward from Kingston

The Sarnia Sting have acquired forward Ben Pickell from the Kingston Frontenacs in exchange for a 10th round pick in the 2029 Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Priority Selection.

“Ben is an energy player, he loves the rink, truly a player we believe can inject some leadership and speed into our lineup,” said Sting General Manager Dylan Seca. “He came on the radar after a strong playoff run with Kingston last season.”

The Frontenacs said Pickell appeared in 64 games during the 2024-2025 season and scored 13 goals and 11 assists. He also added four goals and two assists in 11 playoff games.

Frontenacs General Manager Kory Cooper described Pickell as being a good teammate and fan favourite.

“Unfortunately, we currently have too many OA (overage) players, so a move had to be made,” Cooper said in a media release. “It was important to me to do what I could to allow Ben to continue playing in the OHL for his OA season, and this move allows that to happen."

The Sting are scheduled to host the Sudbury Wolves on Friday at Progressive Auto Sales Arena.

Puck drop at 7:05 p.m. The game can be heard live on CHOK (103.9FM/1070AM).
