As residents return to their normal schedules this week, the holiday reset may be a good time to get rid of any unwanted brush.
The City of Sarnia is adding an extra brush collection week to pick up branches that fell during the ice storm on Boxing Day.

Communications Manager Steve Henschel said the curbside brush collection will take place the week of January 12 to January 16.
"It's just one way we can help residents dispose of the tree debris that came down over the break," he said.
Henschel noted there are some requirements in terms of size and how the brush is bundled. Details can be found on the city's website.
In the meantime, the Sarnia Compost Site has also temporarily reopened. The site, located at 379 St. Andrew St., will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from January 5 to January 9.
"The compost site is typically closed throughout the winter. It's a site where you can drop off brush and yard waste free of charge," Henschel said.
Further details about the compost site, such as acceptable materials, can also be found online.
"If you are going to the compost site, we won't have materials for sale like we normally do. In the summer, we have woodchips, mulch, and compost available. We won't be selling materials during this time, it's just to accept items."
The compost site was also open during the week of December 29, 2025, to January 2, 2026.
The site's regular schedule is set to begin on March 2, 2026.
Downed trees on city property can be reported online.
