Lambton Public Health (LPH) is extending its latest cold weather alert based on Environment Canada's forecast, which includes wind chill values of -25 C to -30 C.
The alert issued on Monday, January 26 will now remain in effect until Sunday, February 1.
Environment Canada is calling for periods of very cold wind chills over the next two days. Temperatures will begin to rise slightly, with a high of -6 C on Saturday and -3 C on Sunday.
Residents are being reminded to dress in layers, to shield exposed areas from the wind, and to limit time spent outdoors. Overexposure to these blustery cold conditions could be dangerous, or even life-threatening in some cases.
Symptoms of hypothermia include pale skin,
lethargy, confusion, excessive shivering, and hallucinations.

Those experiencing homelessness can contact Lambton County Social Services at 519-344-2062, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. For assistance outside of these hours, individuals are asked to contact the Good Shepherd’s Lodge at 519-344-1679.
Environment Canada ended the cold warning for Sarnia-Lambton shortly after 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
Lambton County’s Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Karalyn Dueck, issued the cold weather alert for the region based on the forecast from Environment Canada predicting the temperature to meet the threshold of -15 C overnight.
