A long-standing service will be held at the historic St. Paul's Anglican Church in Point Edward to mark the beginning of the shipping season.
The annual Mariners' service will be held on Sunday, March 1 at 10 a.m.
Rev. Canon Kristen Aikman said the interfaith service provides an opportunity to pray for those who venture out into open water.
"Sometimes cadets are able to come and join us. It's just a great celebration and a reminder of so much that happens on the waters, especially in this area," Aikman said.
This year's guest speaker will be Lambton Heritage Museum Curator/Supervisor Dana Thorne.
Aikman said Thorne will discuss The Great Storm of 1913, which resulted in the wreckage of dozens of ships in the Great Lakes.
"It was an extremely rare event that happened and some of the stories are quite harrowing," Aikman said.
Refreshments will follow the service in the Brand Hall.
The church is located at 210 Michigan Ave.
