The Kiwanis Club of Corunna-St. Clair is calling on the creativity of local children to help with mural design ideas.
Public Relations and Media Chair Michelle Agar said it's the first project they've decided to undertake.
"We're just a new club as of last September, and so our first project that we're doing for the community is to create a mural on the front of the Corunna Library," Agar said. "We've decided to open it up to all of the kids in Corunna, or anyone with a connection to Corunna, to submit some ideas."
Agar said the club received approval to from the public and Catholic school boards for classrooms to help.
"The poster was sent to the schools, along with the form, so kids will have access to that at school and we have also set it up for the libraries in the area. So, the Corunna Library and Mooretown [Library] will have the poster with information and the form for the kids to submit their ideas," she said.
The theme of the mural will be "Welcome to Corunna."
"Tell us your favourite thing about Corunna, or any special memories, a thing you like to do in the area," Agar said.
The club received $5,000 from the Lambton County Creative County Grant Program in December for the initiative.
"That will cover about half of the cost of the mural and we'll be doing some fundraising to raise the money for the rest of it," Agar said.
The deadline to submit an idea is April 1.
The club is newly formed and just held its first fundraiser at the end of February.
