The Lambton Shrine Club's highly anticipated Vidalia onion fundraiser will be held this week.
Speaking with 99.9 The Fox, club member Rob Donald said they're on their way.
"The onions are coming up from that special region in Georgia where Vidalia onions are grown," said Donald. "They're sweet, sometimes a little strong, but I've heard that you can even peel them like an apple and eat them raw. I really like them grilled up or thrown on burgers, salads and all of that. They taste really good."
Donald said a truckload is scheduled to arrive on Wednesday, May 13, at 8 a.m.
"We will be set up under the bridge, the south parking lot in Point Edward, no construction to deal with I don't think this year. Last year we had some construction challenges with the road closures, so look for the big transport," Donald said.
He said you'll also see a big sign saying "Lambton Shrine Club Vidalia onions this way."
"There will be lots of Lambton Shrine Club members ready to bring you your bag of onions. It's cash only, so $20 gets you a 10 pound bag of onions," Donald said.
Funds raised are used to support projects at the London Shriners Clinic and the Montreal Shrine Hospital.
The sale goes until 5 p.m. on Wednesday and continues on Thursday if there are any left.
In 2025, the onions sold out in record time on the first day.
