Census employees to start door-knocking

Residents who haven't filled out their 2026 Census questionnaire could soon be getting a knock on their door.

Statistics Canada is beginning in-person follow-ups this week.

Census enumerators will knock on doors to remind residents to complete the census and offer assistance. All employees will carry official Statistics Canada identification which can be verified through the Census Help Line at 1-833-852-2026.

People may also receive phone calls and text messages from Statistics Canada to help with the count.

Under the Statistics Act, all Canadian households are required to complete a Census of Population questionnaire

Statistics Canada reports "millions" of households have already responded online.

All of the information collected is used to inform decisions on health care needs, transportation plans, and other services.
