Lambton Public Health (LPH) has issued an extended heat warning for the area.
Environment and Climate Change Canada warns of maximum temperatures of 30 to 37 degrees Celsius, with the humidex expected to range from 38 to 45 C.
Extended heat warnings are issued when the heat event is expected to last more than two days.
The national weather agency said Tuesday July 14, is expected to be the warmest day of the heat event with a high of 37 C.
LPH is reminding residents to keep an eye on the most vulnerable, such as older adults, young children, individuals with chronic illnesses, those who are pregnant, and those who work outdoors.
Try to stay as cool as possible, stay hydrated, wear light fabrics and reschedule outdoor plans if needed.
It's also good to remember that if you're warm, your pets are too, and the same principles apply. Stay in the shade; have water readily available.
The high temperatures are expected to last until Wednesday or Thursday evening.
If you need a place to cool down, a list of cooling centres can be found on the Lambton public health website.
