A new year-round public washroom facility has been added to Forest's downtown core, thanks in part to a $122,900 capital grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation (OTF).
Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MPP Steve Pinsonneault recently joined representatives from the Municipality of Lambton Shores for a ribbon cutting ceremony at Rotary Civic Square Park.
"Ontario Trillium Foundation funding is helping communities invest in projects that make a real difference in people's everyday lives," said Pinsonneault. "This new four-season public washroom is a valuable addition to downtown Forest, providing a convenient, accessible amenity for residents while supporting local events, businesses, and the vitality of the downtown core."
The washrooms are located adjacent to the downtown parkette and nearby splash pad.
Lambton Shores Mayor Doug Cook said the facility is part of the broader, multi-phase investment to revitalize the downtown.
"There has been a lot of momentum in downtown Forest over the last few years, and projects like this are a direct result of working alongside community stakeholders to strengthen our downtown," Cook said.
"With direct access from the Downtown Forest Parkette, the new washroom provides a convenient amenity for residents and visitors while supporting community events, local businesses, and families using the nearby splash pad,” Cook added.
