Sarnia Fire Rescue says a $350,000 house fire on Blackwell Road was caused by a faulty electrical outlet in a bedroom.
Emergency crews responded to the home, between Modeland Road and Thurston Road, at around 12:30 p.m. Friday, July 10.
The fire department said the house had functioning smoke alarms and all three occupants and pets evacuated safely.
Lambton EMS treated two people for smoke exposure.
We're being reminded of the importance of evacuating a building when smoke alarms sound.
The fire department said a house fire involves the incomplete combustion of plastics, synthetic fibres and other household items. This produces an off gassing of dangerous chemicals and toxins and even small amounts of smoke from a house fire may have harmful effects on a person’s health.
Sarnia firefighters also battled two blazes last Thursday, and rescued a person trapped inside a residence.
