The Bluewater Triathlon and Duathlon races are on this weekend.
It's the 43rd annual swimming, biking and running event in Bright's Grove.
As of Friday morning, Race Director Hayley Walker said the races were still a go. The final call will be based on the air quality the morning of the event.
"There's a lot of history in the community with the event, and it's going to be a lot of fun. There's an adult race on Saturday, so we ask that folks watch out for the bikes on the roads on Saturday, and there's going to be about 360 athletes in that event. And then on Sunday at 1 o'clock we have a kids' event that'll have about 125 kids. So it's going to be a great day," said Walker.
The event takes place on public roadways, so drivers are asked to be extra cautious.
"We do try to go on less busy streets, but there will be some bikers on Old Lakeshore Road, Egremont Road, and Michigan Line. So we just ask that folks are courteous of the cyclists as they're driving through the community, and we do have volunteers at every corner just to help manage traffic," said Walker
This is the third year in a row that the event has sold out for both days, over 500 athletes are expected to be racing this weekend, but anyone is welcome to come watch and help out with the races.
"We're always looking for more volunteers. We've got folks on every corner this race day. But if you would be interested in helping out on Saturday, you can find my information online. Give me a call, and we'll find a spot for you," she said.
The main race gets going at 8:30 a.m. Saturday July 18, at Brights Grove Public School.
