If you were going to stay home this Sunday in parts of Lambton Shores, you might want to rethink those plans and go for a day trip out of town.
The municipality has notified residents of a significant power outage planned by Hydro One on October 25, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Roughly 4,900 customers will be affected in numerous towns including; Forest, Grand Bend, Port Franks, Thedford, and Kettle and Stony Point First Nation.
Lambton Shores officials said the utility will be doing work to replace aging wooden pole structures that support transmission lines, in an effort to help prevent lengthy, unplanned outages in the future.
Customers are encouraged to prepare for the outage by fully charging cellphones and devices, using a battery-powered alarm clock, keeping fridge and freezer doors closed as much as possible, and turning off major appliances.
If you plan on running a generator, remember to keep it outdoors in a dry area well away from doors and windows.
Hydro One said affected customers will receive an automated phone call or text.
Customers are encouraged to sign up for outage alerts on the Hydro One Outage Map page or call 1-888-664-9376 for more information.
