The Sarnia Sting beat the Soo Greyhounds 7-4 for the team's eighth win in their last nine games before 2.905 fans at the Progressive Auto Sales Arena.
Swedish defenceman Eric Hjorth (5) opened the scoring for Sarnia 89 seconds into the game.
Holden Wale tied the game halfway through the opening period before Jamieson Rees (10) potted a short-handed goal to give Sarnia a 2-1 lead.
The Sting's Sean Josling (15) scored on a penalty shot at the 11:18 mark of the second period followed by goals from Theo Hill (3), Josling (16) and Marco Jakovljevic, with his first OHL career goal.
The Greyhounds mounted a come-back in the third period on goals by Cole MacKay, Zack Trott and Billy Constantinou before Sarnia captain Ryan McGregor scored into an empty net.
Rees, who also added an assist, said "We had a good start but I think the thing that really helped us was our second period. We kind of slowed down in the third, that we need to work on, but we won the game so we're going to move forward from it."
The Sting have rebounded from an 0-7 start to improve to 8-8 on the season.
Rees says the team still has a long way to go.
"We beat some of the top teams in the league and now we're back to even but we can't get too high".
It was the sixth straight loss for the Greyhounds who are 6-11-1-0 on the season, last in the OHL's West Division, three points back of the Sting.
Jordan Kooy stopped 33 of 37 shots for Sarnia.
Ethan Taylor allowed five goals on 15 shots before being pulled in favour of Christain Propp who made ten saves.
