Sting stop skid with shootout win in Guelph

The Sarnia Sting won their first game of December on Friday, beating the Guelph Storm 3-2 in a shootout.

Easton Walos was the hero, the only player to score in the shootout after the other seven participants all missed.

The Sting had to battle back twice to force the extra frame. Guelph opened the scoring with Sam Johnston scoring his first goal of the year, 15 minutes into the game.

Ryan Brown tied things up for Sarnia early in the second, potting a nifty backhand off the rush following a feed from Liam Beamish.

However, Guelph would once again take the lead on someone's inaugural goal. This time, it was Eric Frossard, who scored the first goal of his career to give the Storm a 2-1 lead heading into the third.

Luck was with the Sting in the final frame, as Cameron Aucoin managed to beat Zachary Jovanovski from a bad angle to tie the game once again. Brown picked up his second point of the night with the assist.

Patrick Quinlan stopped 30 of 32 shots for Sarnia in the win.

The Sting are back in action Saturday night when they take on the West's top team, the Flint Firebirds, at 7:05 p.m.
