Amherstburg Ward Debate Returns

Amherstburg Council is debating the ward system once again.

Deputy Mayor Bart DiPasquale raised the same notice of motion last year, asking administration to examine the benefits of implementing a ward system during the next municipal election. "I'm not going to try and push something on the public that I'm not sure they want or not, but it is something that has garnered interest in the community."

Currently, councillors are elected at large and represent the entire town, instead of a specific area.

The motion lost in a tie vote last time. DiPasquale hopes he has enough support from council at tonight's meeting to get it passed this time around.
