Bright Lights returns to Windsor Friday night

Windsor's second annual Bright Lights festival returns Friday night.

The gates at Jackson Park open at 5:30 p.m. Then at 6:30 p.m. Opening Ceremonies will start with Mayor Drew Dilkens and special guests.

This year's event promises to be three-times brighter with the centre-piece, a 64-foot holiday tree in the Queen Elizabeth II Sunken Gardens.

The City of Windsor said this year's event features four-times more displays than last year. It also features a holiday market with artisans, food, and entertainment. A host of iconic characters will entertain festival-goers.

Since last year's festival, the pathways have all been paved to improve access for those in wheelchairs and washrooms have been upgraded.

The festival will run until January 6, 2019.
