Fiat Chrysler Automobiles Canada reported a good month in sales for the Windsor-built Dodge Grand Caravan.
The company said sales were up 14 per cent last month over June of last year.
A total of 2,744 Grand Caravans sold, compared to 2,403 in June of 2018.
However, the year to date sales figures are not quite so rosy. The Grand Caravan continues to struggle with just 15,943 vehicles sold so far this year. That is compared to 20,633 by this time last year, a drop of 23 per cent.
Unifor Local 444 President Dave Cassidy said the union was continuing its effort to change the company's mind and said in a recent Facebook post a meeting with federal officials was successful.
Workers at the plant also received a bit of a reprieve when the company announced a large order would push the date to eliminate the third shift from September 30 back to October 21.
FCA also announced last week that it would build the Chrysler Voyager, a stripped-down model of the Pacifica that currently sells only in the U.S., at the Windsor Assembly Plant. The company did not say when production on that model would start or if it would save the third shift.
