The popularity of Caesars Windsor continues to pay dividends for the city of Windsor.
Ontario Lottery and Gaming (OLG) announced Friday that it made a payment of $3.875-million to the city for hosting Caesars Windsor, for the first quarter of the 2019-20 fiscal year covering April to June.
Ontario Finance Minister Rod Phillips said payments such as this are an indication of how much of a role municipalities play in the growth of the province's gaming industry.
"OLG has established tremendous partnerships with host municipalities and the revenue generated at these local gaming sites is helping to improve the quality of life for individuals and families right across the province," said Phillips.
The money going to the city of Windsor helps it move projects forward, the minister added.
"These funds are invested in plenty of important projects, including much-needed investment in local infrastructure, community programs and services, roads and public transit," said Phillips.
Since Caesars Windsor opened in the spring of 1994, OLG has made a total of $61-million in payments to Windsor.
