LaSalle starts work to prevent flooding in Heritage Park

The Town of LaSalle anticipates work on Heritage Estates and Heritage Park Drive will take up to five months to complete.

The neighbourhood experienced severe flooding during the construction of the Rt. Honourable Herb Gray Parkway in 2015 and 2016 and the work is expected to alleviate excess water.

Along with road and sewer work, the town is renovating the playground and landscape in Heritage Park. Existing storm and sanitary sewers will be replaced and altered. As a result, residents near the park may lose access to their driveways through the construction.

The existing play equipment on the north side of Heritage Park will be open until Labour Day, but after that, the entire park will close. The new equipment will be built, along with a new parking lot, a shade structure with picnic tables, a basketball court, two pickleball courts, and a soccer pitch.

The playground will be fully accessible.

LaSalle received a $1.5-million grant from the National Disaster Mitigation Program, and the town will pay the rest of the total $3-million cost.
