LaSalle's Kylie Masse will be coming home with yet another medal from the FINA World Championships in Gwangju, South Korea.
Masse, 23, took home the bronze medal in the women’s 200 metre backstroke on Saturday, coming in at a time of 2:06.62. The first place title went to U.S. swimmer Regan Smith, who clocked in at 2:03.69.
‘’I can’t complain,’’ said Masse. ‘’The time is not as fast as I’ve been but I’m really happy to be on the podium. I’m super happy for Regan and I think it will only push the backstroke field even faster. It definitely motivates me to get back to work and keep improving.’’
Earlier in the week, Masse took home the gold in the women’s 100 metre backstroke, making her only the second Canadian to win two gold medals at the championships, after the late Victor Davis.
Team Canada has now won a total of seven medals at the 2019 event, setting a record for the most medals Canada has ever won during the FINA Championships.
