The sharp eye of a patrol officer is being credited in the eventual seizure of a firearm and suspected cocaine.
Windsor police say a traffic stop took place around 8:30 a.m. Tuesday on westbound Wyandotte Street West near Randolph Avenue. The officer noticed that the vehicle's rear licence plate was expired and there was fresh damage to the front windshield.
The vehicle was then searched and a loaded shotgun, ammunition, a prohibited knife, and a small amount of suspected cocaine were seized, according to Sergeant Steve Betteridge.
The occupants of the vehicle, 34-year-old Corey Ryan and 30-year-old Brittany Ducharme of Windsor, face multiple drug and weapon charges along with breach of court-imposed conditions as the pair had been previously ordered not to associate with each other. These charges have not been proven in court.
