Leaf collection scheduled in Leamington

With autumn in full swing, one Windsor-Essex community has announced its schedule for yard waste and leaf pickup.

The municipality of Leamington will begin yard and waste collection on Monday, November 2. Residents are being asked to place their leaves in yard waste containers, and not plastic bags.

Residents who live in the urban sector of the municipality may either bag the leaves for pickup on the usual yard waste collection day or rake fallen leaves to the grass boulevard adjacent to the curb in front of your home for pickup.

Pickup will begin on the following dates, depending on where in Leamington you live.

• Monday, November 2 on all streets north of Talbot, including Talbot
• Wednesday, November 4 on all streets between Oak and Talbot, including Oak
• Monday, November 9 on all streets south of Oak, including Wilhelm Subdivision, Sandy Lakes Subdivision, Erie View and Robson Road
• Tuesday, November 17 for residents who live along County Road 20 and adjacent subdivisions. See the municipality's official website for specific information. Residents are encouraged to rake leaves to the edge of the roadway to be collected by a vacuum machine. The vacuum machine won't take bagged leaves or branches and vine. Bagged leaves will be picked up on your regular yard waste collection day. Limit four bags per household, please.

Starting Monday, November 16, residents along County Road 20 with deep front yards can rake leaves to the edge of the driveway, or pile leaves at a central area not to exceed half the distance of the depth of the front yard. You must then call the Leamington Municipal Office at (519) 326-5761 to be placed on a collection list.

County Road 20 residents with short front yards can rake leaves to within three or four feet from the edge of the road. Paper containers and tied branches or vines must be set at the curb to be picked up on the regular yard waste collection day.

Residents are also being asked not to rake or blow leaves into the street.
