Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens had an opportunity to bring Windsor's priorities to the federal government this week.
Dilkens spoke with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and other federal officials in Ottawa about the economy, flooding mitigation, and the Ojibway National Urban Park.
"We're here to champion Windsor to make sure that we are getting traction on all the things that are important to our city from affordable housing, to transit, to disaster mitigation and the effects of climate change," said Dilkens. "To making sure that our economy is resilient that there is money coming down here to help support big, big investment projects that will help transition Windsor's economy from being the automotive capital of Canada to the automobility capital of Canada."
Dilkens also indicated he had a very positive discussion with Parks Canada on upcoming plans to develop and connect lands to create the national urban park in Windsor.
"It's a real opportunity to connect those spaces and create something that is magnificent. It's nice today, we want to make it magnificent and with the help of the Federal Government and the National Urban Park Program with think that that's possible," said Dilkens.
Later this week Dilkens will have similar discussions on a provincial level at the Big City Mayors Conference.
