If you have a residential rental property with up to four units, or you live in one, the City of Windsor wants to hear from you.
The city wants to conduct a study into licensing those rental properties in Wards 1 and 2, near the University of Windsor and St. Clair College. The study, led by Licensing and Bylaw Enforcement, would take place over two years.
It's launched a survey to find out what issues landlords and tenants have, possible regulatory solutions, and their thoughts about a licensing framework.
"It is important that we hear from all stakeholders in our community regarding the Residential Rental Licence. The intent of the RRL is primarily tenant safety and ensuring all parties are playing by the rules," said Ward 2 Councillor Fabio Costante. "As housing demands continue to grow in our community, we much do our part in establishing a framework that provides accountability and better enforceability of our building and fire codes. The RRL is a step in that direction."
