More students have been sent home from the Windsor-Essex Catholic District School Board (WECDSB) due to positive COVID-19 tests.
One class at St. Joesph Catholic Elementary School and another at St. James Catholic Elementary School have been dismissed after the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit reported new cases of the virus Saturday.
Board spokesman Stephen Field said students will be notified when they are able to return to school.
“We have been working with the Health Unit by providing lists of students and staff who may have been directly affected,” said Field. “The health unit is contacting both students and staff who may have been affected and will give directions for them to follow.”
Parents are asked to continue self-screening their children each morning before sending them to school. If they have symptoms or feel ill, parents should keep them home and contact their health care provider for further instructions.
The WECDSB announced Friday that St. Gabriel Catholic Elementary School in Windsor will be closed until Friday, November 26, due to a rise in positive COVID-19 cases.
New cases of COVID-19 have also been confirmed at St. Teresa of Calcutta and Notre Dame, both in Windsor; Holy Names in Essex, and St. Anne Catholic High School in Belle River.
