The City of Windsor is gradually returning Jackson Park to its usual state following another successful holiday season.
The City's parks and recreation department said that the first phase of the Bright Lights teardown is complete, and some of the park's walking paths are now open for regular use.
The pathways that have been reopened are on the Ouellette Avenue side of the Bright Lights area, on the west side of that section. The section of the park on the opposite side of Ouellette Avenue is accessible as usual.
City crews will continue their work on removing light displays and decorations, with the area facing Tecumseh Road East the next to be worked on. Work will continue as long as the weather permits and ground thaw allows.
The parking lot closest to the east entrance, off Tecumseh Road East, is still closed. Visitors are asked to continue parking on the south side at the underpass, near the tennis courts and lawn bowling club.
Bright Lights Windsor completed another highly successful season earlier this month, with thousands of people turning out every night to gaze at various lighting arrangements, and displays reflecting the holiday traditions of Windsor's diverse population.
The event was due to originally close on January 9, but it was extended one week to allow people access to a safe outdoor activity while COVID-19 restrictions were in effect.
