Windsor firefighters make donation to local humane society

The Windsor Essex Humane Society received a $15,000 donation thanks to sales from the annual Windsor Fire and Rescue Services calendar.

This year's calendar featured members of the service posing with their four-legged friends.

"I think the option of having people's pets in the calendar was a big draw for our firefighters, so it just seemed to go hand in hand, having our pets in the pictures and donating to a local animal shelter," said Dan Sementilli, Windsor firefighter.

Sementilli said the calendar was very popular this year.

'It's definitely a community effort. It's one thing to do the calendar and print them out but people have to buy them," said Sementilli.

The funds will help to support the programs and services at the Windsor Essex Humane Society.

"Funds like this help to promote all of our different programs. It helps to support our community's animals, emergency response, our adoption programs, spay and neuter programs. All of these things are possible because of events like this," said Melanie Coulter, executive director of the Windsor Essex Humane Society.
