Windsor once again offering cat spay-neuter vouchers

The City of Windsor is again offering a program that is believed to reduce the number of feral cats.

Earlier this year, Windsor City Council approved $20,000 to fund a voucher program to spay and neuter cats. The vouchers, worth $75 each, were made available this week.

"Vouchers for owned cats are reserved for low-income families, and a declaration of income will be required," read a release from the City. "A maximum of two vouchers per household will be issued where the cats are owned. For feral cat caregivers, a maximum of two vouchers per household will be issued with no income restrictions."

A total of 260 vouchers are being offered this year and on a first-come, first-served basis. Vouchers will only be accessed by calling 311. Requests through email or the mobile 311 app will not be accepted.

Vouchers are non-transferable and must be redeemed at a participating veterinarian's office by June 21. A list of clinics will be provided once a successful application is completed.

Complete information about the spay-neuter voucher program can be found on the City's official website.
