Film buffs will have a chance to see movies outdoors in Windsor next month but in a different setting.
The Windsor International Film Festival (WIFF) is taking its popular WIFF Under the Stars to the lawn of City Hall and screening films free of charge in City Hall Square on June 9, 10, and 11.
Under the Stars was previously held during the summer months at Riverfront Festival Plaza. WIFF Executive Director and Chief Programmer Vincent Georgie told WindsorNewsToday.ca that movie lovers will love the new venue.
"Twenty films total, and it's all free, everyone's welcome to come," said Georgie. "People can bring lawn chairs and blankets and come hang out and watch some great films."
Georgie said there will be movies on the slate that weekend to appeal to all tastes, from Disney films like Encanto and The Mighty Ducks, family fare like The Sandlot and Back to the Future, and action films like the Top Gun duo and Ford V Ferrari.
Under the Stars will coincide with the City of Windsor's 131st Birthday Celebration, which includes the Mayor's Walk, a birthday party in the Vision Corridor, and free admission to Art Windsor-Essex and the Chimczuk Museum.
Georgie said WIFF will provide additional film programming throughout the summer, starting Tuesday night with a screening at the Capitol Theatre of You Hurt My Feelings, starring Emmy Award-winners Julia Louis-Dreyfus and Tobias Menzies.
