Windsor Santa Parade returns to downtown on December 2

A Windsor holiday tradition will return with a nod to nostalgia.

The 55th Windsor Santa Claus Parade is set for Saturday, December 2, and it will follow a route familiar to those who have made the parade a must-see for their holiday celebrations.

The march is organized by the Windsor Parade Corporation in partnership with the Downtown Windsor Business Improvement Association (DWBIA). It will begin at 6 p.m. at Wyandotte Street and Ouellette Avenue, proceed north to Riverside Drive, and then on the Drive to Caron Avenue. Staging will be on Ouellette between Erie Street East and Wyandotte Street East, with destaging on Caron Avenue.

"The downtown area has such vibrant energy and historical charm," said DWBIA Executive Director Debi Croucher. “It provides a perfect backdrop for this beloved tradition. The return of the Santa Claus Parade to its original route is our gift to the community, a way to reignite the spirit of the holiday season in the heart of our beautiful city."

Windsor Ward 3 Councillor Renaldo Agostino said the parade returning to a traditional route will bring nostalgia buffs downtown.

"The return of the beloved Santa Claus Parade downtown will bring joy and warmth to our streets, fostering a sense of togetherness that is more important now than ever before," said Agostino. "Its revival signifies a step towards reclaiming the vibrancy and spirit of our downtown, and I am committed to ensuring that this year's parade is not only a celebration of the holiday season but a testament to our unwavering community spirit."

Over the past few years, the Windsor Santa Parade was held in Walkerville.

Business owners and civic groups are invited to submit plans for floats in the march. The application form can be found on the parade's official website.
