New downtown restaurant opens, hopes to spark revitalization

A new restaurant in downtown Windsor is officially open, and Mayor Drew Dilkens says it's something worth celebrating.

The Mid-South Land Development Group renovated the building at 58 Chatham Street East, which now houses Cucina 360, an upscaled version of the Oven360 brand.

"This is a multi-million dollar investment by a dedicated ownership group who says, you know what we see an opportunity, we like what the city is doing, we see the possibility for growth," said Dilkens.

Despite many downtown business owners voicing concerns over the last year about theft and vandalism, Brian Schwab with Mid-South Development says they are not too worried.

"We're not terribly concerned about it, but you have to do your own thing in order to protect against those sort of things," said Schwab. "If you notice all of our properties have very upgraded lighting.  We have cameras around the building."

This building is one of many along Chatham Street that the development group has purchased and renovated.

"It's a beautiful building. All of these buildings downtown have interesting architecture, they have some historical significance so it made sense for us to continue to move down the block," said Schwab.
