Nature lovers will once again have an opportunity to experience an abundance of resources in Windsor-Essex.
The Essex Region Conservation Foundation is offering W.E. Hikes 2024, a series of guided hikes in nature areas across the region, for a tax-deductible donation.
"W.E.Hike 2024 is a great way to get outdoors and discover some of the lesser-known facts about our incredible region, led by some remarkable guides," said foundation president Claire Wales. "We’re so proud to host this fundraising event for the second time, and hope many people across the region will want to hike for conservation."
On Saturday, June 1, guests will participate in one-to-three-kilometre hikes led by volunteer naturalists.
Nature photographer Steve Biro will lead guests through Devonwood. Phil Roberts, the former Nature Guy on CBC, will be at Holiday Beach Conservation Area. Mike Fisher and Bill Roesel from the Friends of Ojibway will lead hikers through the future Ojibway National Urban Park.
ERCA staff will also be available to lead hikes at other conservation areas, and more hikes are being added regularly.
For those wanting to lead a private hike to raise money for conservation, a host kit will be provided.
Hikes are available for a donation of $25 or more.
