Trillium grant supports learning disability programming in Windsor-Essex

The Learning Disabilities Association of Windsor-Essex is hoping to improve service delivery thanks to a grant from the Ontario Trillium Foundation.

The organization received a $125,100 grant from the Resilient Communities Fund in January. The funds will help develop a data-driven organizational strategy to enhance program delivery.

"Really a data plan allows us to be nimble and organizationally effective. It allows us to expand our reach in the community and to really continue our great work and hopefully improve upon that work," said Erin Plumb, manager of IT and special projects.

Learning Disabilities Association of Windsor-Essex offers accessible programs for individuals, families, and community partners to support people with suspected or diagnosed learning disabilities. The programs serve around 1,500 people in the community.

Executive Director Mary-Ann Fuduric said they wanted to take on this project to really evaluate how the needs of the community have changed since the pandemic.

"It's a completely different landscape and it's something that we as an organization have been trying to resolve and trying to work through," said Fuduric. "We know that having a comprehensive data plan will really help us to identify what those needs are."

The OTF grant will help fund the project for two years.
