City seeing an increase in complaints about dirty yards

The City of Windsor's bylaw department has seen an increase in the number of calls they're getting about unkept yards.

"Generally we don't start getting the calls come in until around June so I think we're probably over 500 [calls] over where we would normally be at this point," said Craig Robertson, Manager of Licensing and Enforcement. "We're trying to get out there as quickly as we can."

Robertson indicated the department is short-staffed so it is taking them longer than usual to address all of the calls. He said there are currently around 1,500 outstanding calls.

Any bylaw complaints can be made through the city's 311 call centre.

According to city bylaws, residents are responsible for keeping their yards free of debris with the grass cut below 12 inches.
