The Windsor Goodfellows are preparing again to ensure that there is "no child without a Christmas".
The Goodfellows are gearing up for their 110th holiday paper drive and Christmas basket. The group, though, is facing the same challenges that others are this holiday season.
"Due to an over 40 per cent increase in food given away in each of the last two years, due to a combination of price inflation on food and unprecedented increase in our client base, particularly with the working poor," read a release from the Goodfellows. "Unfortunately, this trend is not letting up, as we are sure you are aware already."
The Goodfellows rely on the generosity of the public to not only serve those less fortunate during the holidays, but also support its programs the rest of the year, which include a food bank, lunch for the homeless, a breakfast program in 27 schools, and a children’s footwear program.
Forty per cent of the Goodfellows' total annual income is through the three days of paper sales.
Volunteers will hit the streets of Windsor, LaSalle, and Tecumseh from November 28 to November 30.
